I got Triss today! :D So far, so good. It's not as good as Taggerung, though I'd rate it the same as the Long Patrol! (And that's a big compliment, coming from me. TLP is one of my favorite Redwall books.) Only one problem so far: the art is severely lacking.

More comments as I read further...

I saw the scans Martin put up, and I thought it was pretty good. Looks kinda like the stuff I draw.

Why do they use a sterilized needle for lethal injections?

Wow... Triss was great. Probably #4 on my list of favorite Redwall books. I'd say it had the BEST ending of ANY Redwall books, as well. The clasic "extract from the diary of..." ending, with a really nice twist. I loved it! :)

I liked how the adders were able to speak - Brian's reptiles have seemed awfully mute lately, so it was a refreshing touch. :)

As for the art, it wasn't that bad after all. :) Just Malbun Grimp. ;)

The adders were great. A very nice way of getting a "three headed dragon" in there without compromising Redwall's integrity. ;) I might even go so far as to say they were scarier than Asmodeus.

Re: the numerous "Extracts"-- I agree, excellent way to end the book. I hope we'll see the format used again in the future. Nice way to summarize Triss liberating the slaves of Riftgard, too (although too bad Mokug stayed up north). My only complaint is that they left Brockhall's fate open-ended. They cleaned it up, true. But, I wanted a passage saying Sagax moved in there, restoring it as a home of the badgers or something to that effect. I thought it would also have been a nice touch to have him become the "Badger Father of Redwall". ;) We've had female characters finding their way into roles that are typically held by males-- Abbey Warrior, Badger Lord-- I'd say it's about time that swung both ways. Plus I find the thought of a male badger tending after dibbuns to be amusing. ;)

Anyway, great book. Read the review. ;)
