Well, I spent the afternoon reading Triss yesterday and I am now pleased to announce it's completion. Here's what I thought:
Best characters:
-Plugg
-Shogg
-Kroova
Underused/developed characters:
-Triss
-Sagax
-those overly large birds
Okay, so did anyone besides me think that Triss really didn't seem to be the main heroic character? That's all well and good if she wasn't, but it seems kind of strange just because the book is named after her. I didn't find her all that impressive, though I didn't dislike her in any way. She was a good character- just seemed a little too buried in all of the others.
I enjoyed the climax in Brockhall, as well as the summarized attack on Riftgard. The adders were really unique too, I thought, though I can't forgive them for killing Plugg.
What else.. the Dibbuns were spread a little too thick in the beginning. I get tired of their antics and baby talk rather quickly.
Let's see... Shogg was a great character. I'm glad Welfo got the boot early on. She reminded me of Pallum in the MTW series. Scarum was over the top, Kroova was intriguing, though underused.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. The story was different, the characters were pretty unique as well. It moved a little slower, I thought, but that's all good. Yep, it was pretty good.
